Kenya election result: William Ruto wins presidential poll

The announcement came moments after the main count was intruded as frays wearied out.

William Ruto takes over from departing President Uhuru Kenyatta, who didn't champion his crusade. Kenyatta is nearing the end of his government and will step down latterly this month.

Throughout the crusade, William Ruto appertained to himself as the" hustler- in- chief," pressing his modest origins as a funk seller who worked his way to the zenith of Kenyan politics.

Judges believed that his contender Raila Odinga would win, grounded on his success in opinion checks and government support.

Still, William Rutos populist" man- of- the- people" style, which escaped political dynasties and capitalised on the country'santi-elite posture, endeared him to voters.
